Chairman Report:
● Derrick from 911 started using E cards - Sent out instructions
● Appoint committee for nominations for FF, EMT, and Dispatcher of the year in
July; Vote in September - Banquet in October
● Appoint Committee for nominations for officers in July, report in September; Vote
in November.
EMA:
● Fuelman - 50% for the year
● April - 109% for the month
● Homeland security grant- notify ASAP if wanting to apply
● Landfill checks passed out tonight
● Drone program -NOVA mapping with drones.
- May need help funding
- Asset to search & rescue, preplanning
911 Board:
● Still dealing with lawsuit; over a year and still in discovery
AAC:
● 911 Board will not be handling the ambulance contract anymore. County
Commission will allow AAC to review and sign-off.
● County’s attorneys are drafting by-laws; making AAC it’s own board.
● Told Lifeguard they do not feel that there are enough trucks currently
- Requesting 1 or 2 more trucks to cover the county.
● RN navigation/ Telehealth options discussed
● UAB SVB needs to have a dedicated transfer truck
- Will be up to Lifeguard and UAB to address; separate contract and issue
● ACLS/ALS will be clarified in contract renewal
● Waiting on county attorney to notify if we can renew with addendum or will be
considered new contract, requiring bidding out
● BCBS is in network; issues resolved
● Reviewing every call over 30 min response time
- 98% of every call is a distance issue or due to zero status (not enough
trucks)
● Current contract has two demands
- Level of effort & response times
● Any complaints, issues, or concerns related to the contract, notify AAC
Training:
● Applying for grant for classroom
● Burn trailer available after Jr. FF Camp
Lifeguard Ambulance:
● Already been covered during AAC discussion
BREMSS:
● EMS equipment that needs to be picked up is downtown
● Protocols newest editions is potentially releasing July 1st.
● EMS challenge website
Forestry:
● Grant checks by next meeting, be sure to have representative present at next
association meeting
AFC:
● Oct-Sept had 16 classes in Blount County with 147.
- Goal is 25 classes per county
● All props are still good to be available for Jr. FF Camp
● June 2nd- June 14th the Driver simulator will be available in Blount County. It will
be going south for the rest of the year.
● QR code will be made to sign up for props
● 4 new Taylord props
● Hazmat A&O at West Blount May 27th-June 2nd
- An additional A&O class will be offered June 16th. Dates TBA
Coroner:
● SUID investigation call in Cullman May 21st- May 22nd
- Goes over investigation side
- Flyer for information available
Jr. FF Camp:
● Thank you for all donations
● Buying shirts for kids
● Need more female volunteers; contact V. Hill if you would like to volunteer
● 60 kids registered within 2 days; 17 currently on waiting list
● Boston Butts for sale- $45; will be ready for 4th of July
Unfinished Business:
● Healthcare Authority Grant -Send receipts to D. Horton asap
● Keep in mind there could be shortages
